Check out this article on ESPN…keep in mind that even though this ESPN “Senior writer” got a lot technically right in this article, usually they don’t know squat about what’s happening in tennis. Better late than never I suppose. I cannot tell you how many times I have heard an ESPN sportscaster pronounce a name wrong, fumble through the “play-by-play” during a highlight or my favorite, refer to repeated forehand ground strokes as volleys…until somebody finally corrects him during a commercial break. I can only imagine the grimacing that goes on before a tennis segment begins. It’s not hard for tennis fans to see that without the teleprompter pulling them through…painfully…it would get real ugly.
